Huawei Nexus 6P Teardown, Repair Guide
Google’s new products each each would arouse much attention from the public. Just like the Huawei Google Nexus 6P this year which is made by Huawei, will absolutely attract more attention. Huawei phones have always been popular in the domestic market. So, how is the fruit of their cooperation? Today, we will walk you through Huawei Nexus 6P smartphones teardown to see the phone’s build and craftsmanship.
Firstly, let’s get to know the hardware specifications it comes with. Nexus 6P comes equipped with a 5.7 inch AMOLED 2K screen, Snapdragon 810 octa core processor along with 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage, expansion via Micro SD card is not available. The phone uses 12.30MP rear camera ans 8.0MP front camera, supporting 4K video recording, runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Nexus 6P also offers USB Type-C port, the battery capacity is 3450mAh, supporting Quick Charge function. Nexus 6P is also the first device of Nexus family to have original Google Nexus Imprint Fingerprint ID function. The touch area is on the back of the phone. Meanwhile, there is also dual-stereo speaker at both of the top and the bottom of the phone.
Before disassemble it, let’s see where to start. Nexus 6P is unibody metal design, you can’t see any screw on the surface, increasing the difficulty of teardown. To make work easier, we decide to start with the upper and lower end of the back cover.
The lower end cover is joined with board under it via glue, but the gap is very small and narrow. So, you need to heat it first and then remove this plastic cover.
Now, we can see the cover is fixed by 4 screws, one of them is with a Anti tamper sticker. Remove these 4 screws one by one.
Next, we need to release the curved glass over the camera which is also joined by glue. Likewise, you need to heat it first.
Here, it also uses 2 screws to fix and one is with Anti tamper sticker as well, one is on the left and the other is on the right.
These are the plastic material of the upper and lower end and the glass cover of the camera, one’s back is Silver baking varnish craft and the other is glass, they are full of glue on the surface. There is a rubber ring inside the glass cover to protect the camera, dust-proof, next to it, there is the cover of the LED Flash.
You can see now, the whole back panel and frame are unbidy metal design. After removing the 6 fixing screws, the metal back cover is free to be disassembled from the LCD screen assembly.
Please note that you should release the SIM card tray before disassemble the screen assembly.
The metal back cover is processed with very exquisite craftsmanship, unibody design. And what inside it are also well processed, Nano Molding Technology is used on both the upper and lower end inside. Even the Power button and Volume button are integrated on this metal back cover and they are fixed by soft silicone that won’t drop when disassembling.
The other part is the LCD screen assembly which concludes all the spare parts, flex cables, battery and Fingerprint ID module are quite eye-catching.
Let’s remove the flex cables first. We can see that flex cable is fixed by metal frame. So you need to release the metal frame first, there is arrow to show you how to do it, more convenient.
Release the metal frame and then remove the flex cables. The cables are easy to disassemble, one of the cables belongs to the battery.
Release the flex cable connected to the PCB board first, the back of the whole cable is supported by metal, not so easily damaged.

Now, the battery is free to be removed. Heat it first and them pry it up with tool. Try not to destroy the way it looks originally, because it is very sticky. The battery is 3450mAh Li-on battery, 3.82V voltage, ATL brand.
What below the battery are the loudspeaker, MIC, USB Type-C port, Vibrator and so on. Release the screws, then you can remove the PCB board.
This step is quite easy, the speaker and PCB board are separate. It is very convenient to replace if either one is broken.
The front and back of the PCB board: on the front, there is USB Type-C port and control hardware. USB Type-C port is also surrounded by silicone cover to be protected. On the back, there is microphone and LTE antenna spring contact.
After removing PCB board, we can see the metal frame inside the front panel, an independent vibration motor and RF cable. There is also a red rubber cover to fix and protect the microphone.
Then, we need to remove the motherboard, there ate many metal and plastic frames. They give the whole phone a solid build and they are also with arrows for easy disassembling. The back of the metal shield is covered with high temperature adhesive tape.
Remove the Fingerprint ID module.
Now, we are here to release the earphone and the camera. They are fixed with 2 screws and protected by a metal frame.
Earpiece and the front camera: Earpiece is able to be removed independently, it is covered with a rubber layer. The selfie front camera is 8.0MP, F2.4 aperture.
Remove the rubber cover of the laser focus and antenna module.
The PCB motherboard can be totally removed now.
The rest panel, with metal frame and the earpiece at the top. The buttons are on the frame side, they don’t need to be removed.
The PCB motherboard is very square with reasonable layout, intense structure and clear signs. Under the shield, there is also high temperature adhesive tape.
The back of the motherboard is also the integration of metal shields and other components. There is also thermally conductive silicone under shield.
Remove the 12.30MP rear camera, this camera is Sony IMX337, F2.0 aperture.

All are here now. We found that the build and craftsmanship of Huawei Google Nexus 6P are pretty reliable, material is very excellent and quality is rather good as well. However, it needs a lot of efforts to tear down. So, not that convenient for repairing.
