As soon as you realize its little journey to water, get it out as quickly as you can. Lesser the time of its journey, lesser will be the penetration to its inner body, and higher will be the chances of saving it.
But it doesn’t mean that if you have realized later, you will end up with a dead phone. In fact, there are still some chances, but “some”.

If you can’t get it to any repair shop, then put it in the middle of dry rice. This will soak out the remaining moisture from the phone. Don’t forget to move the phone around from time to time to make sure even moisturisation.
Note: Though this method would dry out the water, but it doesn’t dry off the minerals present in the water. This mineral deposit could be the reason of corrosion in the internals of the Smartphone. So, try to find a local mobile repair shop first.
7) HAVE SOME PATIENCE:
Don’t lose hope and wait for some time. Let it dry for at least 24 hours to as much as 72 hours. More you give it time to dry; more will be the chances of recovery.
8) RESULT TIME:
Take out the Smartphone and other Smartphones from the Rice box, Dust off the rice particles and other scratches from them and assemble them together. Turn it on; hopefully everything would be as normal as before. But if it doesn’t happen in once, try again some more times. If still result comes out to be negative, then sorrily your Smartphone is dead.
Now check for your Sim card and Memory Card with any other cell phone, hopefully you have managed to save them at least.
